Flight season
Flights take place only in the morning, within two hours of sunrise, a magical moment when the air mass is stable and peaceful, ensuring a safe flight. Therefore, there is only one flight per day.
Two types of flights are available:
- From late March to late October: flights are scheduled every day, both weekdays and weekends. Passengers choose a flight date at their own initiative and according to their preferences.
During the week, the waiting time is shorter than on weekends. - From January to late March: a few winter flights allow you to cross the Vosges mountain range or enjoy the snow-capped peaks.
Passengers who wish to participate must register with Aérovision (different flight organization).
There is no ideal season for a flight: the hot air balloon flies with the winds and opportunities that arise. Each flight is unique and different.
Flight areas
Few territories possess as many varied biotopes and landscapes rich in natural and historical heritage as Alsace.
This abundance makes Alsace a blessed land for a hot air balloon flight.
Our flights depart from:
- The greater Colmar area: this is our main base. Takeoffs take place in the vicinity of Colmar, in the Munster, Kaysersberg, and Orbey valleys.
Our flights allow you to enjoy the Vosges valleys, the vineyards of central Alsace and its typical villages, or the Ill Plain and its meanders. Depending on the winds, it is sometimes possible to cross the Vosges ridges. - The Saverne area: This is a secondary base for a few takeoffs in the region around Saverne. They allow flights over the Northern Vosges and the hills below the Vosges.
How a flight works
Before the flight
- Meet the Aérovision team (easily accessible public parking).
- Transfer to a take-off site with Aérovision vehicles.
- Safety briefing and technical explanations.
- Balloon inflation, an operation in which passengers are invited to participate.
- Boarding and take-off.
During the flight
From the basket, Alsace reveals itself as you’ve never seen it before.
Observe, breathe, and enjoy the magical moments.
After the flight
- Packing up equipment with the team.
- Breakfast on the grass.
- Toast with Crémant d’Alsace and presentation of a personalized first flight certificate.
- Return to the meeting point by Aérovision vehicle.
The entire process takes between 4 and 5 hours.
Is it a gift?
- Order your tickets online, by indicating a passenger’s name.
- You will receive an email with temporary tickets to print if the gift is intended to be given quickly.
- A nice ticket, accompanied by a practical gift guide, will be delivered by post to the indicated address.
- The recipient of your gift will freely choose their flight date, according to their wishes and availability.
It is possible to book a flight date as soon as you receive your provisional tickets. - Tip: feel free to send us the recipient’s cell phone number. Aérovision will only contact them at least 3 months after the date of purchase (if they have not been in touch in the meantime). Throughout the ticket’s validity period, Aérovision will try to contact them again to encourage them to take their flight.
Once the recipient has flown, you will receive an email and a flight itinerary.
